The station has now received the new Station platform signs that come under Great British Railways which is Government driven, we have been given permission to change a couple of the signs to the origional Totem style to coincide with the Museum.
We have had a bench & outdoor lamp donated to the station, both items were kindly donated by Lindsay Edwards, these items will be located in the signalling Garden, a huge thank you to the volunteers for the renvation work on the lamp which is coming along nicely.
The Woodhead Railway Heritage Group Committee are looking to set up a Women's Group at Guide Bridge Station, we are aware there are a lot of women who follow the work taking place at the station and the Committee would like to offer the opportunity to any women who would like to set up a group utilizing the facilities in the Museum building. Our Signalling Garden Project is now starting to take shape, our volunteers have been working hard and are now clearing the original platform, also adding walkways and flower beds, we are also looking for any new volunteers to come along and help with our projects.
We held our 'Welcome to your Station' event Saturday 9th September, we had a number of vintage vehicles, Sales Stalls, a Mayoral visit and not forgetting Tameside Radio doing a live broadcast from the station.
This week we had a successful meeting at the station to discuss the School Project Area, start of the new term in September, once a week classes will attend to carry out planting.

One of our main projects recently has been the restoration of the Mineral Wagon which was purchased by Andy Kettle [WRHG Chairman] & Peter James Birchill [Woodhead Museum Manager], the wagon is now waiting for the sign writing of the local Coal Mining Collieries that where once in the area.
